...to outer space!!!!

We played with a stomp rocket the other day. Colin said he was going to send his" so high it would go to outer space!" So cute.

A good day for a PARADE!!!!

 This has been a great summer so far. We are still in a transition period since we are not at our own place but it has been a great experience for the kids to get to know some of the west coast grandparents so well.

A couple of weeks ago we finally made it to a parade! I am a sucker for parades, not sure why...I just love them. This one was for a local festival celebrating the towns roots. It was very cute. Colin and Meli loved the parade. No meltdowns! The parade was very cute. There were some different local groups, the high school cheerleaders, a dance team and some locals who had graduated in the 70's celebrating a well-known movie that was filmed here. They were dressed in togas dancing to "Shout". Hmmm...I wonder how many will know what movie that is?!?! I am liking this town that my dad lives a lot more than I thought I would. It has a very cute small town appeal.

After the parade, we went to the festival with the kids. Colin got his first cotton candy. He loved it! Thankfully he did not want to eat too much of it. (I cringe when I feel they are having too much sugar). Meli seemed to like the taste but did not like the texture of it. Only one bite for her.

It was a fun week. We went back just the adults that evening. We have found a sweet babysitter here, so that it a nice break from taking the kids everywhere with us. Or more often just passing on things because we did not want to deal with two overly-active kids.

Sweet Meli is such a rough and tumble tomboy (no fear and loves to get dirty) but she definitely has a girlie side. She likes to pick her clothes out lately and loves anything My Little Ponies.  She also loves to play with my make-up and my purse. Here she is using one of my purses that she put all of her necessities in it. Like her keys, her phone (toy), and my lip gloss. What a cutie!

 

 

This crazy life we have...

I have noticed that Will and I have some chaotic method of how we decide our major decisions. We lean one way for a bit, brew it over and usually decide for whatever reason against it...then totally go the complete opposite way and get serious about it. As it gets pretty close, we both come to same conclusion that our first plan was actually what we should do. Then we go for it. We have done that with a few things. It is like our real thoughts about something do not fully form until we are in a relaxed state since we are on a path to a decision we made. Then we can see what is really important and make the best decision for us. At least so far they have all turned out to be the best decisions. Hopefully that sticks, because we have done it again. A couple days before we were going to move into the townhouse (to rent) we decided against it and put an offer on the house!!! Crazy I know. So, unless something drastic happens we are moving in next month! I am so excited. Very glad to not have to rent again and to just move on with our lives. This means I can hopefully start my garden in time to get some fall crops going!

Uncle Greggie's Birthday Hike

 

 

My baby brother turned 29 this past Sunday (man we are getting so old)...he is the last of us in his 20's. To celebrate Uncle Greggie's day- we headed to Spirit Falls for a hike. The weather was great and the falls was a beautiful area. Colin and Mel loved the waterfall. She wanted me to take her to the bottom of the waterfall. We made it pretty close but it was very cold water. Freezing. We were close enough to get wet by the water coming down. She thought it was so funny. Colin made people take turns exploring with him (like Uncle Greggie and Mi-ma). He found a lot of cool rocks and pine cones.

 

The trail said it was difficult but it actually seemed fairly easy. Mae only fell once! She was leading the pack down and back up. Going back up was pretty steep. Definitely felt the burn in my quads!

We hope to make it to the other two falls this summer that are in the same area as this one. It was a fun activity for the kids and wore them out (bonus) - plus it was a good workout for all of the adults.

We spent some time painting today. Meli and Colin both had a great time...and actually kept the mess to a minimal!

I finally gave in and cut Mae's bangs. Since she hates her hair pulled back. 

Happy Birthday, America!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe 4th of July. We kept ours pretty simple. The kids played outside while we visited with family at my dad's BBQ. We let the kids do a couple of fireworks and then watched from the front driveway the cool professional ones. Colin and Meli loved it!

These wonderful summer days...

I am sitting in the backyard letting the kids run out some of their endless energy...enjoying a rum & coke so why not write a quick little blog entry. 

It has been a little heat wave here in Oregon. The kids and I have been cooling off by running in the sprinklers. Fun times. 

You cannot really see it very well but my necklace in the above picture is the tree of life one that Will & the kids got me for Mother's Day.
