The B Family Conversations

This is a recent text Will sent me when I was gone for a few hours. I just adore my two kiddos! I just had to share.

M: I throw up?

C: No! You'll die. You'll go to heaven where God is.

M: who?

C: GOD. He lives up in the sky where heaven is. You'd go there.

M: Yay! Santa Claus too?

C: No, God.

M: Santa lives there too. That's God too.

C: N...no. God is not Santa. God is bigger and smarter than Santa. Even smarter than DAD.

M: ...so Santa's real name is God.

C: No, Gods name is Jesus.

M: oh ok, so God, Santa and Jesus. Yay!

Colin was a little frustrated that Meli did not understand the seriousness of the situation.

Guide Dog Raisers

Recently, the kids got to see a presentation about guide dogs for the blind. A few ladies brought their dogs that were being trained and one blind gentlemen brought his guide dog. They talked for a bit, then the kids got to go to a few activities tables. The tables were set-up to give the kids a glimpse into what being blind would be like. They got to type their name in Braille, try to name fruit and money by touch, and talk to Adam and his guide dog. Afterwards, they took the puppies green jackets off, so that the kids could pet them.

Oregon Coast: Yachats

My We went on a (mini) vacation last week to the coast. This time we tried the coast town, Yachats. I had heard good things about the beaches, but had never  spent anytime there myself. . It was very pretty and had nice beaches. There is a neat lighthouse nearby and it is also close to the Sea Lion Caves. We were not able to take the kids there this time, but hopefully we can soon. I remember going as a kid and loving it.  Will liked Yachats better then Florence and Seaside. We went with some friends and their kids. We had a great time and were able to relax, which is a bonus. 

A Beautiful Day

While we were there the weather was perfect.  It was super windy though.  The kids were afraid of the "sand ghost" (the wind would blow the dry sand in a mist like layer that hurt the kids' legs a bit), but besides that it was a blast. 

Colin is getting this new found "adventurous" spirit, that I am not used to. He has become very bold when it comes to water. Made me feel like a "helicopter mom" making them stay close, but I am not a trusting person of water. So, they have to deal with that version of me around water.

Colin wants to be a scientist, several actually. He wants to be an inventor, robotics, animal, stars, etc. We recently bought him a field journal to draw and take notes about plants and animals he sees on our outdoor adventures. He has been really enjoying it.

He has changed so much. He actually touched the sea urchin and felt it "kiss" his finger. He would not have done that last year or 6 months ago.

Summer

I have been bad at writing this summer. So here are a few pictures from the last few months.

We have had several birthday parties this summer. One of our faves was a police themed party. There was a crime scene where the cake was stolen! The kids had to follow clues to find the thief.

We have spent a lot of time at farmer markets and little farms. The kids love the animals and one near us serves ice cream!

 

It has been pretty hot here. Like abnormally hot. So we just try to stay cool.

The Eugene symphony gave a free concert in the park. So we drove down to see it. The kids loved it!

The kids had a blast at a little fair. Meli was my ride buddy. Colin not so much.
