Changing it Up!

Yesterday, Meli and I changed her room around.  It made such a difference space-wise.

We have not decorated too much. Mostly, just a few homemade art pieces. I was avoiding it but we decided to let her pick out some posters. Of course, it will be My Little Pony and Disney Princesses. Oh well, it is her room.

Today, we did Colin's. His was harder to make more space, because his bed is so big. I think we managed it though.  They both act like they have new rooms.

Meli has been joining me on a few workouts this week. She loves the kickboxing, suicides, and push-ups.

Meli has such a cute personality. I love this age. She is so much fun right now. A pain at times...but what kid isn't.

"We do yard work"

"snack time"

The kids were being so sweet the other day and wanted to help me do yard work. Haha! The picture above is how it ended up working out! I did not mind all that much, because even though it can be fun and sweet - usually kids helping out means more work for mom. The weather was weird that day. It would be sunny and then rain. I was determined to get a few plants in their pots...so anytime there was a break from the rain I went out there.

My little movie star
We are starting on our veggie garden. I am so excited. We will be making the raised beds here soon. I got my tomato plants going. We are trying Juliet and regular big tomatoes.

The kids did help me in their garden. Grammie bought Minnie and Mickey for Meli. They are solar lights. She loves them, but did not think they should go outside. She was pretty upset. Thankfully, once she saw them light up at night she got over it.

Kids garden...more décor than plants

I got some new flowers this weekend and some older ones are blooming. So pretty.

I love the color

My new Dahlias.

The name starts with an 'O', but they are 'Summertime Sweet White'. They are gray/black on the bottom

I must really like Dahlias. This one looks like it is glowing

Meli wet and muddy

Meli and Colin helped me water the new plants. Of course they ended up cover in mud. Bath time! Meli kept saying, "we do yard work". So cute...

New Floors!!!!

Sorry attempted to do this post on my phone and it published before I was ready.  Anyways, we got new floors installed yesterday!  I just LOVE them!!! The floors turned out perfectly.  It really transformed the three rooms.  We had the main level done (kitchen, living room, entry way and half bath).  The contractor we used did such a good job and at a very reasonable price.  We will definitely consider using him again when we want some tiling done for the backsplash and in the master bathroom.  Next up: either getting our countertops redone or new stainless steel appliances.

Pardon the pictures. They are from my phone and we still need to put things back in their places.

A wonderful weekend...oh and some bedroom pics

I am now realizing that this is my last weekend with no homework for the next couple of months...ahhh man as Colin would say.  At least it was a good one.  We spent Saturday relaxing, cleaning and playing at the park.  Then today we focused on hanging up pictures (I have been horrible at doing it) and organizing the kids' rooms.    We moved Colin's furniture around.  We are trying to open the space up and make sure he has an area for his legos (his new thing that he loves).  We ended up making one corner a book/lego nook by using two bookshelves in the corner.  I think it is cute.  We just need to get him a little rug for that area to make it more comfy.  Meli's room also got rearranged. I really like how it turned out.  Much more spacious.  We also hung up some of her elephant pictures.

We still need to get a gray rug and hang up a few more pictures.

Meli's first time down the slide - she loved it!

Baby girl loves her sippy cup.  I love her jeans!

We changed it up and headed to Dinosaur park.  Colin loved it.  The other park has more baby swings but Meli still had fun.

Hope everyone has a fantastic week!

A New Bed

Colin got his new bed!! He loves it. It frees up a lot of his floor space and now he has more room to play...and we have a guest bed again!  Got to love IKEA...well Will was not a fan while he was putting it together!

We still need to rearrange things but here is the loft bed with a tent.

The In-between Pictures

The floors are done!  We have a few things remaining that we need to get for Meli's room... but here are some pictures of the new floors!

They turned out amazing!  Meli has discovered that with her new floors she sounds louder and has a little bit of an echo.  The first night she just yelled a lot while we were getting ready for bed.  Fun.

Red Umbrella

A few months ago we remodeled our entry bathroom. Will & I were inspired by a painting of a red umbrella.

Meli's Nursery

Meli's room has been mostly done for some time but I have been waiting for some finishing touches.

Here is some before pictures:

My goal was to have a cheerful room. I also wanted to use the Winnie-the-Pooh decor I had but not go overboard with it.  So, I also focused on the butterflies and bees from the blanket.  A few walls still need something but that can wait for now.

Colin's Superhero Haven

Since we were painting the nursery we wanted to change Colin's room as well.  We went with a Superhero theme and he LOVES it!

When we moved in

Will and his dad worked on this

The only decorations that are not really superheroes are the little trinkets I buy him from my trips.  You can sort of see them on the top of his bookshelf.  Most of his books are in his playroom but his favorites stay in his room.
His big boy Spider-man bed!

Oh, Colin started naming his own stuffed animals.  Will would tease me for my names.  Tiger was Tiger, Lion was Lion and so on.  That is how the famous Bunny got his name. I thought it was a great way for Colin to learn what they were and it was easy to remember (for me).  Well Colin now has a Teddy Bear named Cheese, a Tiger named Bread, a dinosaur named Toasty, and a Lion named Soup.  I think it is cute and so adorable!  Will is a little iffy on it.  I bet he misses my names!

We put a few of the final touches on his room today.  Well I think we have one more thing to do but here you go.

We will eventually add to this wall.

I did his name and Grandpa B did Captain America's shield.
