Flat Stanley Comes to Virginia

From Oregon to Virginia -

A friend of the family sent us a school project a few weeks ago. Her second grade class is reading the book Flat Stanley. My understanding is that the boy gets flattened by a book and realizes that he can travel around this way...I think. So, the class sent their own cut-outs of Flat Stanley to people they knew that lived anywhere but Roseburg. The project is that the people who receive him will take him around their city and take pictures of him. So, we were the lucky chosen ones to have Flat Stanley for a visit!! If the weather was nicer we would have taken him to DC, but it's cold! So, we cheated a bit. We took a picture of him outside, in the snow, added bonus! Then I printed out pictures of DC from previous visits. I was going to try and to somehow take a picture of Stanley in the DC pictures, but it turning out to be too much work.

So, hopefully just having the pictures of DC will make the second graders believe that Flat Stanley did more than rest on a countertop of an apartment in Northern Virginia. In his journal I made it sound like he was very busy. He went to DC, a Civil War battleground, the Air and Space Museum, and I think Mt. Vernon! Do not want to break the hearts of a whole class of second graders. Now, I just have to mail the thing back to Fullerton IV, which is cool because I went there for a few years!
