I have failed to post any Meli's Closet posts in quite some time...very overdue. She has gone up like two sizes since the last one. Meli is still wearing 6-9 months clothes (depending on how the length is) but she is starting to get into some 9-12 months onesies. The bigger size is fine for length but they usually just look bulky on her. During the work week we definitely go for a comfortable but girlie look. She wears a lot of onesies with comfy pants. Working full-time, I do not always have the time to doll her up each day, but I am thinking she is OK with that...we save our fun for the weekend. It is crazy how much one's taste can change in 4 years. When Colin was a baby I avoided anything with ears. I did not like the animal robes, hats, etc. Now, I think they are the cutest thing. Meli will probably look back at it and be like, "Mom, what were you thinking?"...but I find them so adorable.
I love putting bows and hats on Mae. Poor thing probably hates it. Well the bows she does not mind so much and hats are fine if she is outside. The trick is to put it on and then distract her with something. Those first few seconds are vital. I am very excited for her first birthday outfit. It is an idea I got from pinterest that involves a tutu and a big bow. I think it is going to be super cute!

Meli wears a lot of pink and purple, but I enjoy exploring other colors with her. I do think she looks adorable in blue. Probably because of those big blue eyes. They have not really changed at all yet, but you never know. Mine were very gray until I was in probably 6th grade or so, then they changed to green. When Meli was born she had this thick patch of brown hair right on top of her head but then the sides were a reddish blonde (almost a strawberry blonde). Now the brown is gone and sometimes it looks blonde and other times it looks reddish. Who knows. I am glad enough has grown back to put little bows in it! I have been having fun with the Pebbles look.

I also have fun putting her in little skirts and dresses. The picture above is an outfit one of her aunts picked out from the Crazy 8 store. It has a panda face on the hoodie and on the tights. Super cute. We have a tendency not to buy shoes until the babies are walking (or if it is super cold outside). Colin did not wear shoes until he was over a year and it worked out great. In my experience they are just not needed. Cute but not necessary. That may come from the fact that I would love to go barefoot all of the time...if I could. It is more tempting with girl shoes though. So adorable. Meli has worn one pair of shoes (pictured above). Since it was supposed to snow we put these warm little boots on her. She thought it was fun to stand in them. She loves challenging herself. Right now she is practicing standing up on her own (which she is pretty good at) but now she added returning to a sitting position unassisted. She does it over and over.
The Pebbles look works because little Mae has this section of hair that will not lay flat. It likes to stick almost straight up. I have basically given up trying.
I also love baby jeans. I think it is one of the cutest little things to see jeans with a little diaper booty!

Colin loves clothes too. He is at the stage where he wants to have a say in what he wears. I usually have him pick after I pulled out a few options. Otherwise, he would take FOREVER. He has a pretty relaxed style. Colin loves to be comfortable. He would stay in pajamas all of the time, if I would let him. His look usually consists of some kind of graphic T-shirt with a super hero or star wars character and what he calls comfy pants, which ranges from sweats to jeans. One of my favorite things of his is his raincoat. I love it. Colin still loves his routines. He is pretty good at reminding us that he needs to brush his teeth and he needs to put on his "make-up"...by that he means shave. He has a play shaving set that he just love to do. I am not sure why he calls it make-up, but I think it is funny. Will, probably not so much. Especially when he sees Will shaving and asks if he can put on his make-up too!
