Countdown to 30

Sadly, the big milestone countdown has truly begun.  I actually do not mind too much...just a smidgen.  This has motivated me to really start getting back into eating healthy and working out.  I have lost all baby weight but I just really want to focus on getting back to the shape I was in when I played sports.  So...I am not so worried about what number I am at, but just that I feel good and am back into a routine.  My sweetie is also at this same point.  He does not want to lose weight but just make sure it is more muscle than not.  This is good for me -  because I am motivated by knowing someone else is working out.  I am used to either being the more athletic one in a relationship or at least comparable.  So, if the hubby is working out then my competitiveness will jump in and make me want to work out.  I was super excited when I heard Will get up this morning for a run - this meant that I also got up and when to the basement to workout.  I have been returning the favor by packing his lunch for him and not making treats as much.  I am not a big treat person.  Eating healthy is actually not a problem for me...but my husband definitely has a sweet tooth which I think has been passed down to the kids.  Colin did not start liking sweets until he was 3.  Younger than that we did not give him sugar (for the most part).  He got a cupcake on his first birthday and maybe something here and there. As much as I want to, I do not want to totally cut out things from the kids.  I have seen (too often) where that totally backfires when they are older. We are believers in "everything in moderation".  We teach Colin about eating healthy and how you want to limit things not so good for you.  Like fast food and treats.  Meli is still at the age where she rarely gets to eat sweets.  I can tell she knows she is missing out.

I want to get a gym membership but with traveling it does not really make sense.  I have not really been on a routine since Meli was born.  I started back during my maternity leave when I could take advantage of naps but at work I do not really get that option.  I just need to start waking up earlier to make it work.  It takes 21 days to make a habit so just need to stick with it.  Thankfully on trips, we usually have access to the base gyms.  Having the motivation then does prove to be more difficult though...
