Our Ninja Princess

My little dancer
A good term for Meli is "Ninja Princess", because she is so rough and adventurous, but so girlie at the same time. She is such a good mix of both types. Will likes to point out how much "girlier" she has made me. I laugh it off, but it is true. Sadly, so true. I realized while hiking yesterday that every part of my outfit had pink on it...even my backpack! WTF?!?! I guess having kids can change us quite a bit.

Baby girl loves dressing up. In the picture below, she found a Santa dress in her closet, which made her think about her Santa hat. So, mommy had to dig it out of the Christmas boxes, which happened to have a pumpkin in it. Of course! That goes perfect with her Santa outfit. She then kept asking for a Christmas tree. She even showed us where it was supposed to be.

Her aunt and uncle sent her a box of princess dresses. Meli was ecstatic! She kept switching between Cinderella, Snow White, Belle and Aurora. Then back again. This will get very old I am sure. At least she is very independent and is getting so much better at putting the dresses on herself. The accessories not so much.

Cinderella
Meli keeps us on our toes. She is always exploring and seeking her next adventure. It was really hard to keep her from jumping into the fountain. It is "reclaimed" water, so not something you want your kids swimming in.
Daddy's girl

She has come around on her hair being styled. For the most part. It is now part of our morning routine. Once she gets tired or grumpy - out it goes. I am OK with that. I love doing her hair.
She likes her hair in sloppy buns

This little girl has her own style. She loves putting things together. Sometimes it works really well and others it can be very funky. Still, it somehow works for her. Possibly because she is three. She also likes to steal Colin's clothes. Like the hat below. The other night when she was supposed to be sleeping, I found her in Coley's room taking his pajamas. Colin usually ends up stripping his pajamas off if he gets hot. I walk in and Meli is standing on his bed (once Colin is asleep he is OUT) in mid-dressing. She had taken off her pajamas successfully and put Colin's shirt on - but (maybe due to the dark) had put both legs into one pant leg. I did let her sleep in his clothes. It was so cute even though she got in trouble for leaving her room. So hard to stay mad at her.

She has her own style
Excuse her potty below. We were having her run around naked a few months ago trying to get her interested in the potty. Nope. She was not having it. We did not push it, even though I was really wanting to. It was the right choice. With us casually bringing it up and her constantly refusing. We took a break from asking, then she one day says, "I want to use the potty". That is Meli. It has to be her idea. There have been a few accidents, but it was pretty instant at home. We are still working on in public. She does not like the little potty, but she likes her Minnie seat. I was afraid she was going to be difficult and here she is doing so well...with the exception of number 2. Not doing that.

The other day was the first time in public that she asked to use the potty. Of course, we are at a park that only has a outhouse type thing. I had to hold her over that. Not cool Meli. At least it is progress. She was so excited that she asked to go a few more times. Somehow only when mom was around. Again, not cool. The last time, she missed the step and fell face first on the cement. Poor girl. She had scraped her nose and forehead pretty good. Coincidentally, no more asking to go potty there.

Sorry - mama blog. Potty training talk is a must.

She loves picking outfits and accessories

Meli has become such a mama's girl with me being home. She constantly needs to know where I am. I do love my little shadow...even though I would not mind a few "me" moments here and there. She is the worst when I am cooking dinner. She always wants to be held.

Meli loves our little bench in the front. The kids will sit out there and have a popsicle while just watching the neighborhood. They even did it when it was pouring down rain. I think that is their favorite time together. Meli will sit out there with me while I drink my morning tea.

Pretending she is drinking tea like mommy
