Princess Meli is 3!!!

Our precious baby girl turned three years old this past Saturday. She is becoming such a big girl. More than likely, she will be our last child, so it seems that every milestone hits me more than normal. I view everything as the last time I will experience this. With children you never know. We may add another bundle in the years to come, but for now two seems like a good number. We are even, they do not out-number us yet!

I digress...Meli's celebration of her third year began last week, when she got a free cupcake from the bookstore. We made a family trip to B&N. Meli loved walking around exploring. She carried this little black kitty cat the whole time. I love her style. For the most part, she picks her clothes for the day. I may sometimes put a few choices together for her. Each morning, I ask "what color do you want to wear today?" The answer is usually always "pink". Sometimes I can convince her to broaden her color palette. We sadly did not get the kitty, but she did get a new book about the potty. I finally found one that I liked. The ones I have been seeing are so busy and (to me) confusing for a kid. This was simple and to the point. We are parents that usually do not push too many of the learned milestones, like potty-training (within reason). Colin came to it on his own and it was super easy. Meli is taking a bit longer, but she has been asking to wear underwear...so hopefully here we go!

We celebrated with Mi-Ma, P-Pa and Uncle Greggie on Friday night. Meli was so excited to see the (minimal) decorations going up. Meli chose to have a Minnie and Mickey party this year. Will was thrilled (haha). Birthday girl, picked out this very cute orange/pink dress to wear. She managed (thankfully ) to keep it clean all day. She also chose pigtails ( I am so winning this hair battle).

The kids helped me clean and bake Meli's cupcakes. She chose pink cake with white frosting and neon pink sprinkles. The kids' idea of helping was eating and licking anything they could.

My little blondie
Meli had so much fun! Her kid party is coming up this next week, but she loves hanging out with the grandparents and Uncle Greggie. There were no issues (besides a broken serving container - more on that in another post). Meli is finally getting more into opening gifts. Before she would be easily distracted but she knew what that the wrapped things were toys!  Her uncle got her an Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) costume and a Cinderella one. She loves dressing up. Hearing her say both of those names is so cute. "Rora" and "Rella". Now she has added the A to Aurora.  Her words are just exploding this week. The kids were singing "Let it Go" together and she was getting majority of the words. She also got a new outdoor chair to take to Colin's games (Minnie Mouse), puzzles, dolls, and a dollhouse.

Meli sang "Happy Birthday" to herself. It was so cute. We had to light the candle a few times because of all of her attempts to blow it out early.

Meli decided she wanted to go for a birthday walk on Saturday (her birthday). As usual, with two kids it took forever for us to get ready. It was sunny when we decided to go, but by this time I could see the rain clouds coming. In Oregon, that cannot stop you from going. So Meli and I ventured out. Colin chickened out.

"This is TERRIBLE!"
Just a few minutes into our walk/run it started POURING!! I love a truly good downpour every once in a while. I find it very refreshing...rejuvenating. Meli loved it! She kept saying "Big puddles, big puddles...this is terrible!" Terrible is her new word, but she does not know what it means. To her it was a good thing. I had a difficult time getting baby girl back in the house!

Nice & Dry Colin
Colin's T-ball game got canceled, which freed up some of our day. The only other thing we had planned was attending another little girl's birthday party. She is three days older than Meli. It was a bit confusing for her to go to another party on her birthday, but it went well. The party was so cute. It was a lemonade party. Just adorable. The kids made their own lemonade.

"I see you"

They love the merry-go-round

...and balloons

It was so fun celebrating our little sunshine this week. I just love her so much! My world is so much brighter with my little sunshines.
